FIRST LEGO League gives elementary and middle school students and their adult coaches the opportunity to work and create together to solve a common problem.”

The 2020 FLL game is called “City Shaper” for information about the game, visit https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/fll/challenge-and-season-info

In 2018, our team started FLL team 37705 and assisted them throughout their season as well as mentored rookie FLL team 43037. In 2019, we wanted to put more of an effort into expanding first, which led to the creation of 4 new FLL teams this season. To get the kids interested, we visited 15 elementary classrooms and presented to about 400 students, with an additional 350 students at the 6th Grade STEM Day we present at. This gave students a brief introduction to FIRST and piqued their interest. We then held parent meetings, found coaches, organized meeting times and spaces, and helped the team through the registration process. We have also raised over $10,000 for the teams we started through grants and fundraising, we then working with them and others throughout their seasons.

Not only did we help new FLL teams get their starts this season, for the last 2 years we have also hosted “Just for Fun” competitions. These give teams opportunities to participate in competition like settings, experience judging sessions and provide volunteers with practice before the actual tournaments. In 2019, seven teams attended this event, four in 2018. We also hosted and ran 4 (2 side by side per year) FLL tournaments with 22 total teams, 26 the year before.
