Volunteer your time as a mentor! Mentors are the backbone of FIRST teams all around the nation. Without our mentors it would be utter chaos. Mentors teach and assist us with all aspects of the building process from programming to design. They help build our confidence with public speaking. They’re there to keep things under control, all while helping guide us to be able to do all of these things on our own. Our mentors feel rewarded helping young people grow their skills inside teamwork, technical skills – such as programming and designing cutting edge robots – organization, and leadership that will follow them into their careers and throughout their lives.
Want to help but don’t have time to come mentor, or feel you don’t know how? Sponsor us! We can’t do what we do without the help of our sponsors! Building the robot, transportation to and from regional’s, room/board while we’re competing; those are just a few examples of how sponsors help! Local business sponsors don’t always give us just a monetary donation. As a thank you to them, and a way to help further our own knowledge, we try to visit as many of our local businesses as possible to give them a demonstration of how their donation has helped. We enjoy having the opportunity to tour these businesses and see just how STEM is building our future.
